Having Type I Diabetes can be hard, especially when you're a kid. Having someone that understands what's going on and being part of the diabetic "normal" is important.  Diabetes should be a bump in the road of life, not an engulfing crater that prevents kids from living their dreams.  SCYDA wants to make sure these kids live up to their potential.  We have camping opportunities that offer the support of other kids with diabetes, college support and various resources for the people that love and care for these children to help make DiaLife a little easier.

Opportunities to Help

We endorse the Time-Talent-Treasure philosophy of giving. We are a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization and welcome all donations. While donation of Treasure is a key part of our survival we also realize that each of us has different types of gifts to offer (such as their Talent and/or Time). See our opportunities for volunteering to help you decide what event you'd like to help with.  Please donate today!

Why send your child to camp?

There are many benefits to sending your child to Camp Sweet Escape.  Camp allows kids with diabetes to be kids, to be “normal”.  Everyone at camp is checking blood sugars, counting carbs, and taking insulin.  Camp helps develop social skills and builds friendships that last a lifetime.  The overnight camping experience helps these kids build confidence and self-esteem, which leads to independence in the future.
